Looking for a elk hunting partner

Hey all, Looking for a elk hunting partner for this coming September. It will be for archery in Colorado. Last year was my first year hunting them and my dad will soon be too old to keep chasing them so I need to find someone to start a anual hunt with if possible. I'm 26 and live in Omaha, NE. My parents live in Colorado and my old man has been chasing them for 25+ years, however he doesn't know how much longer he will be physically able to keep chasing them and recommended that I find someone to start chasing them with in the years to come. All of my friends archery hunt whitetails, but none seem to be willing to put in the effort/time/money/conditioning to chase elk in the rockies, which is why I'm here. I would like to find someone near Omaha that would be willing to go this year and hopefully be able to meet up before hand and hunt turkeys or something to get to know each other. I have a quad, wall tent & all the camping necessities, as well as a spike camp. I'm not looking for someone experienced (although that works too!) as I'm a rookie also. Just looking for someone to hopefully start a yearly deal with.

Oh I'm positive in my thinking thats for sure. The name was the first thing that came to mind since that is what I had on my first adventure . Harvesting an elk would be a bonus for sure, however I'm just trying to figure everything out and take in as much as I can while in the woods and enjoy my surroundings. Im there for the experience and I'm fully content with not drawing my bow back, when its meant to be it will happen. Just happy to be there and need to find someone to go with is all.

Still looking fellas. Looking to go The first 2 weeks of the season for a 12 day hunt (14 Total) allowing for a day of travel each way. Anyone possibly interested or looking for a partner as well? C'mon guys season isn't far away!

Adam, maybe you can hook up with someone that's also heading to CO to hunt elk? They don't need to be from Omaha, this way it could open up additional possibilities? Keep your options open & explore them all.

My hunting group is set and I'm not hunting co this year. However, I'm just down the road in Lincoln. If you ever want to get together to shoot or have a calling practice session, or a bs session I'd love to catch up.

Plan to do another OTC hunt again this year so no applications. ElkNut I totally agree, I don't care where they are from itd just be nice to be able to get something going for this year and possibly the years to come. If I make it down to Lincoln I will look you up! Or if you are ever in Omaha and want to shoot the video simulator thats a good way to kill time

What are the dates you have in mind for this coming September? Are you interested in hunting wilderness area? Are you comfortable with switching off from hunter to caller every other day? Are you in physical shape to climb up and down steep mountains all day?

H2O, I will be out there the first 2 weeks of the season this year. Whichever those are and when they are posted I'll know. I'm planning on going out for a scouting trip in late July early August to narrow down spots. I don't care where I hunt to be honest, as long as I don't run into other hunters all day! Yes on switching from caller to shooter is fine, but, as you know there isn't always just one designated shooter. If I'm calling and a elk walks in you better believe if the shot presents itself there will be an arrow in flight! As for physical condition, I'm 5'8" 145lbs an run 3-5 miles a day so yes the mountains are no problem. I hunted 12 days last year and felt great.

Gents,
We are looking for another hunter to fill our party. We will be hunting the Gunnison area of Colorado. New area for us. as we have been hunting Idaho for the past 4 years, taking 2 bulls on a DIY, archery, public land hunt. We will be renting a cabin, to be used as base and spiking from there.
Dates are September 20-28th. Are group is from Mn and Wi. We will split up into two man groups and head out from there, hunting 10,000 acres of National Forest.
