I'm guilty of lurking. So I finally registered after I saw the lurkers thread. My name is Shawn and I'm from Texas but live in Florida. By trade I'm a fireman for the last 18 years and enjoy traditional hunting, fishing, outdoors, and my passion is building traditional bows.

So the introvert is saying hello to all.

welcome to the forum. lots of good people on here. as im sure you've seen.

First time hunting elk with my longbow. Yes I have a plan. I was lucky enough to get an invite to go to friends place in Dubois Wyoming. The plan is he's the guide and hopefully I will be blessed enough to harvest one. Hunting the last week of archery. He said it would probably be better that way because if it snows it push the elk down to lower elevations and not be so hard on this flat lander. I'm in shape and hopefully ready to go. Have everything I need and then some in my pack. He's doing all the calling and setting me up.

I grew up in the coastal bend of texas. I joined the navy out of high school. Got stationed here in Florida. Girlfriend at the time asked me to just try it here and 18 years later with a wife and three kiddos I'm still here in Florida. So my bow company is named after my home. That's pretty much it.

Welcome Shawn sounds like you have a good plan. If you need to know anything this is the place to ask. Lots of good hunters around here. Glad to see another fireman on here. I have 17 years in also.

Thanks guys. Patience is sometimes hard to come by but I have learned my lessons after several years of hunting my wifes ranch in nebraska chasing big muleys.

Yes one must wait until the animal almost passes by without moving before attempting to loose the string. I hope to post up some pics.
