So campers, what tried and true big game hunting broadhead do you currently use? Part 2 of this ultra scientific thread is which Broadhead (aside of your current model) would be one that you’ve been interested in trying out?

I have done a lot of studying on broadheads the last few years. I hope people will respond and put their experiences. Currently I’m using Montec m3 125. Last year was my first year with them and I never let and arrow fly so no reviews yet.

Last year my group took three elk.

One with a sevr
One with a Montec G5 100
One with a Montec G5 125

Valkyrie deathswitch broadheads OR evolution outdoors Hyde. Same product, slightly different arrow attachment deal. They fly true and even in my lighter weight rig, deploy with plenty of KE. I've thrown them at a lot of critters except an elk but I seen the elkshape dude is reppin' the hyde by evolution outdoors and he has put down a fair share of elk

I use a Grizzly Stik single bevel 2 blade. But might switch to one with bleeders. My son is going elk hunting for the first time this year (pending a license) and not sure what he will use yet. I have some Montecs he could use.

I think I could figure out what brands and models of broadhead I use but I would have to go look in the basement. I have a couple of different brands. One is a three blade, and one is a four blade. They are both sharp, fixed blade.100 grain broadheads. They hit where I aim and hold together going through an elk. In case you want some, I got them years ago on sale at Walmart for under $10 per three pack.

I've killed a lot of whitetails and one cow elk with Magnus Stingers 125 w/bleeders. I switched to Magnus single bevel and ran one through a whitetail with no complaints. Excellent penetration and blood trail however, they did not group well for me beyond 40 yards. Went back to Magnus Killer Bee 150's last year to stay with the same weight as the single bevel and hit the biggest bull I've seen right in the shoulder. 100% my fault and not the broadhead.

Dang it! Now I'm thinking about giving the single bevels a go again and seeing if I can make them group at 50. :?

Did you get your bow paper tuned with the single bevel? I don't do the whole bareshaft tuning etc but when I built my current setup, I took it to the bowshop and had it paper tuned. They had to tweak my rest a little but said it was slinging pretty darn close to straight
