OK, please post up your 2025 "Meat Pole" offerings. Small game, fish, big game, predators, winged creatures, etc., are all welcome additions to our meat pole; they don't necessarily have to be edible ;)

The SE Idaho big migration thing has been gone for years. Too many birds staying in Canada and Montana. Snake river use to have 50,000 geese. We dont even get ducks like we use to.
Not complaining,( well not too much).

Now the birdies in the pic,,, thats SD, Long ago stomping grounds. I May go back in the fall kill some coyotes and fox,,, and ducks and geese

Thank you guys! I appreciate it!! He's hanging in the cooler still but I will most definitely update on whitetails vs muleys. I'd have to say that forkhorn muley taste awfully delicious. He's most definitely my biggest buck so far and I am super grateful to have nabbed him with my bow.

I get to be on here twice this year! I got my first whitetail over the weekend. It's no Ranchosueno buck, but I'm pretty fond of him. I was fortunate enough to get a permit that someone else had returned to WDFW just prior to the permit season opening. I made some quick phone calls and accommodations and headed over middle of last week. I had private ground access but there was so many mule deer rutting on that ground that the whitetail seemed to be staying away. I accessed some state land through their property and found a sweet little aspen/brushy bottom that had the right look. Sat there most of the day on Wednesday and finally right at dark spotted a whitetail, but couldn't tell if it was a buck or do. Found myself right back there in the morning in heavy rain. When the rain letup about 8:00, the deer started moving. I saw a doe move through, then not to long after a buck came through the same opening clearly trying to trail her. I move my sitting location to get a better view of that side of the bottom and immediately spotted another buck working the brush line below me about 200 yards away. I got setup on my shooting sticks and spent the next 15 minutes just keeping track of him until he stepped into an opening I felt I could sneak at bullet through. One well placed shot and he went about 25 yards in a large semi circle before tipping over. The deer was quartering away from me. The bullet entered mid-chest and exited low on the front of the chest on the other side, taking one lung and splitting the heart in two. The bullet exited right through the knee of the offside leg. Virtually no bloodshot meat.

Having the private nearby was nice. I was able to drive to within about 300 yards of where he lay and make a quick drag to the truck. Easiest packout I think I've ever had. Felt like cheating.

2025 Buck.jpeg

Well by golly, I get to be on this thread! I hunted 8 out of our 9 day season and on the last day was rewarded with this guy. It was an 83 yard shot with a shotgun (this is our last year of shotgun only). He went about 35 yards with a double lung hit. My dad and my son also got similar sized bucks (okay, theirs were just a tad bigger if I am being honest!). Cannot wait for my dads summer sausage!
