March 2021 Photo of the Month Contest

Postby WapitiTalk1 » 03 01, 2021 •  [Post 1]

The March 2021 WapitiTalk.com Photo of the Month Contest Theme is: “Nice View from Up Here”; let's see some photos taken from up above ;) .

1. One photo submission allowed per month, per member (yep, stinky MODs may enter a photo also).
2. Photo must relate to the monthly theme (or risk being disqualified).
3. Do not use photo editing software to enhance your photo. Just post the photo as it was taken with your camera, smart phone, trail cam, etc. You may have to resize some photos so they are accepted by the forum software; remember, photos can only be 800X600 pixels "MAX" for our forum.
4. You may use older photos you have on hand, but, do not submit a photo that has won a previous WT photo contest.
5. Any WT member may enter a photo they have taken or appear in.
6. Judging – WT members will vote on monthly photo submissions.
7. Contest period will normally end the last day of the month.
8. Winner must contact WapitiTalk1 via PM and provide mailing address for prize (your prize may be sent directly from a WT sponsor or from RJ).
9. Prizes will vary from month to month.
10. All monthly winners will be automatically entered into the "photo of the year" contest.

The prize for the March 2021 contest is (to be determined).

It sure looks that way. What happened to your picture of the Tetons? It was a little smoky, but that is the essence of hunting season.

Now I know I've played this photo before, but I cannot find indication that it won anything. If Swede determines that this photo is disqualified because of a past win, I will delete and replace with my backup photo. What I DON'T want is him knocking on my door at 2 am like old IS and whacking me in the kneecap with a crowbar. Just a verbal reprimand will suffice.

I absolutely love my knees, so I am not playing. Too scared of a visit from Swede. :P Hey Joe, are you out of the hospital yet?

Swede, I absolutely love your picture and you should win easily. I will vote for sure for you. Maybe even 2 or 3 times. Then a few more times via write-in ballot.

Ya, we have 9 or 10? volcanos out this away (WA and OR). It's always awesome when you can hunt within view of one or more.

A nice lenticular cap on the volcano is always a treat. That was an eventful trip, just scouting, but learned a lot. One of my favorite pictures.

Joe has a large display of replacement kneecaps. I suspect he can pop in a new one in a minute and keep going without changing his stride. He seems very resilient and capable.
I am not worried about getting caught using a old winning photo as I have only won twice now. It is pretty easy to keep track of your winnings when the jerks on this forum won't come through for you by writing your name in. :D BTW: How would it work if I won on a nonexistent photo that was a write-in winner? Would I have to quit pleading for write-in votes? Hummm?

Another question here. How big is my bear? This one looks big to me. I never shot it or any other bear for that matter, so your guess is as good as any. Whitey should have some experience here. Would this bear be good eating as it was in the general forest many miles from a river or garbage dump?

It looks big to me. Very round, small ears that are spaced far apart. Gorgeous coat in him. Fall bears that stent eating fish, garbage, or carrion are generally good eating I think, but my experience is somewhat limited.

I had six bears come near my stand that morning feasting on an elk gut pile. This one was easily the largest. My cousin saw five bears come around that afternoon. They were likely some of the same ones I had seen. Neither of us shot one. This bear was just a little out of my pee shooter range.

Looks like a damn fine bear to me, but ive never been accused of being picky about what bears i shoot. Next time let the air out of one and make some stew, youll never pee on a bear again.
