Re: WapitiTalk Elk Photo of the Year Contest (2020) - VOTE N

This is it... Photo of the year! I try to really look at pictures from a bit of a professional perspective. Lighting is important. If you want a good pic the photographer... or Clip Shot, has to have the sun at his back. That can be a tough one for us since we can’t control where the elk die. I look for composition. I want to see the bull and of course the hunter but I like to see the area around the kill site a little too. I also like depth. Meaning a background that tells me this is elk country! I love big nulls of course but this is a photo contest not a big buck poll. There are a few other things too. Kids and puppies get no points from me and neither do long arm shots. Anyway.... clearly I am NOT the winner! Lol

Good luck to all!

Me too, but I may be partial. I like that I can see the whole mile long stalk in that photo. 250 yard shot in his bed, he never heard the boom. Picture is exactly as he laid.

A 3-way tie for 2nd place??? Come on guys, I have a kid to feed and buy shoes for! That spike in the picture is dang near gone already, working on the mule deer and blacktail now. He wants to go hunting this weekend, and my boots are all worn out! I need these new Crispi boots that are in the prize lineup!

Well that didn't help. Looks like it just got more votes for the guys already ahead of me. Some helper you are. I'd have expected that from Swede, but not you Lefty.

Re: WapitiTalk Elk Photo of the Year Contest (2020) - WINNER

Postby WapitiTalk1 » 01 21, 2021 •  [Post 15]

Allrighty, after almost three weeks of voting, we have the top three vote getters identified. 1st place goes to jcs280 (6 votes); 2nd place goes to Elknut (5 votes); and 3rd place is Slim9300 (4 votes). Thanks to all who submitted their awesome elk photos and thank you to all who took the time to vote. Winners need to PM me their current mailing information and I'll pass that along to Crispi, Swagger, and Alaska Guide Creations so they can send out the prizes. Last but not least, a huge thank you to the three advertising sponsors who provide the prizes for our first ever Elk Photo of the Year Contest!

Congrats to all of you that bested me. I'm sure there was some voter fraud of some kind, mail in ballots or "malfunctioning" devices. Next year I'll stall the results with a filibuster until some votes can be found in someone's closet. My God I'm starting to sound like Swede.

7mm there was no voter fraud. The voters were just being jerks. Again I got zero, nada, no write in votes.

Anyway congrats to all of the winners and thanks for all of the entries.
