There was frost on the decoys earlier. I do plenty of hunting in December and January. I much prefer to hunt geese when temps are above 50 than below 50,..... but it doesn't work that way

That is a nice view! Here's a shot from our youth hunt, the boys first goose and duck. We are seeing an increase in birds, swans, snows and specks to the north (should be here within a week), honkers and ducks. Should be getting pretty good soon!

the northern mallards are down in a field my buddy has permission on and is going to bring my boys and I out today or tomorrow. My boys are shaking with excitement. It is all they can talk about. Especially one of them. He has the dreaded incurable waterfowl hunting disease!

Elkstalker the youth hunt has to be the greatest of times.
My oldest first youth hunt .We had the most incredible morning and experienced things that haven't happened since. Ducks and geese by the thousands. Ducks and geese landing and walking on the blinds
Just saying cherish the grin in that photo!
OPh and grass up that blind just a bit more ;)

One of those things that's better to have than other problems.

A cousin of mine was talking to my mom, Her boys wanted to trap like "their cousins". My cousin was worried about the boys stomping around in the dark , and how everthing revolved around getting a chance to trap.
My mom told her " compare it to other real problems most teenage boys have, theirs is a wonderful problem to have.

My 27 year old daughter spends about as much time hunting with me as she dare. For me,... what a great blessing!"

Hey Lefty, it's been a fun year so far, I have two new hunters this year, my son loves waterfowl, and shot his first buck the other day. My daughter really enjoys hiking and we got really close Saturday morning to getting a shot at a nice 5x5 bull. I never imagined watching them hunt would be more fun than doing it myself! It is SW MT, although my morning duck hunt today was much much colder than that youth hunt  like -7!
