Winter Project

Postby Elkhntr08 » 04 21, 2019 •  [Post 1]

I picked up these 3 gun at an auction Saturday. Been through a fire, but for $95, I thought I’d take a chance. The middle gun is a 700 ADL in .270, the right one is a 37 Featherweight 12 ga.
Got them home, gave the 37 to my son and started breaking down the 700. Looks to me like the worst damage is surface rust from being wet. Took the bolt apart, no issues. Trigger and safety works. Sprayed it all down with Liquid Wrench and let it sit. Will clean a little more today and oil it down until I can get back on it this winter.
Thinking a B&C stock. Open for suggestions on Durocoat color and stock color.

We will look forward to seeing how these turn out. The gun on the left looks like a big project. What are you planning for its future?

It’ll be a next year project. Single 12 ga that had a plastic trigger guard, now melted into the trigger. The char on the stock is only 1/32” deep. Needs some TLC. Be a good truck gun when it’s done.

Well, it took me the better part of a year to decide what I wanted it to look like and then complete it.
After hours of cleaning, test firing, waiting for the right parts to show up on Ebay, she’s finally done. Started life as a Remington 700 ADL .270 Winchester with a Tupperware stock. Now she has a BDL floor plate, mountain rifle stock and black durocoat. Waiting on a set of Tally mounts. Putting a Burris Fullfield E1 4.5-14x44 on her. It’s what I had laying around.
Pretty proud of her. Can’t wait to see how she shoots.
If the barrel is gone, may have her rebarreled in 338-06.
