he gave me half of his.

he tipped over some big Texas Whitetail. just plopping the backstrap out on the counter, i knew i was looking at something BIGGER. i have what i call, "a venison situation". my freezer is stuffed!!

i gave the old lady across the street about 10lbs of meat. she loves deer meat and his always saying how her son never brings her any..hahaha...i am becoming her favorite. man, the backstrap of this deer is double the size of the backstrap on mine. crazy how deer vary in size so wildly.

cant wait to taste the difference. you guys tasting big variances in texture and flavor across your deer kills?

I've seen some pretty big variations depending on age and diet. Congratulations having enough to be full in your freezer and to share the wealth.

My dad killed a couple young does in Iowa last year and it may be the greatest tasting thing I've ever had. A whole lot different tasting than alpine mule deer.

whitetail venison is just flat out better than mule deer, i wont even hunt muleys. there are a handful around here but we mostly have whitetail. it would take one hell of a mule deer buck to get me to put one in my freezer instead of whitetail.
