i had absentmindedly accumulated 5 points. i buy an OTC california deer tag every year. then pay $8 for the point. otc deer is a challenge!! one of my hunts puts me on the border of an x-unit..which is a draw unit. i stare longingly across the river at the land over there, dreaming of deer..any deer.

well. i am done dreaming of my first bow deer. i got a willing partner, and we just put in for the hunt.

nice that it isnt 3 States away..i can get some decent scouting done.

i think draw results are sometimes in june. the badnews? this hunt conflicts with elk. but one goal at a time, i suppose.

Good luck in the draw. This year I will be looking for my first mule deer with a bow and looking forward to it. That's one thing we are spoiled with here in ND, state wide archery permit. Only thing we cant shoot is a mule deer doe.
Tough decisions when you have to come down to ELK and DEER. Take both! ha

5 points is a shoe in for an archery draw. Congratulations and good luck. Next year I plan to hunt X12 (A20) unless one of the out of state elk hunts pop.

Thanks. I've burned some gas getting there to scout.

Hiking up on July 12 for an overnighter to check out the high elevations.
