H & R Ultra Slug Gun

Postby Madison COunty » 01 20, 2014 •  [Post 1]

Does anyone own a H & R ultra slug gun? I'm looking at the 20 gauge, it is only a single shot but I hear it is VERY accurate. We can only hunt with shotguns where I live and my Remington 870 with a bird barrel isn't working for me.

I've heard this too. My understanding is you got to get the one with the big heavy barrel.

The heavy barrel helps with the recoil people tell me Gun is only $249.00 and I was looking at a scope around $150.00

I thought that was a pretty good price, maybe I can hit something then  I can see things a lot better with a scope....I missed a doe Saturday night just standing in the timber, it was getting dark and I couldn't see the body very good.

I have a 12 gauge ultra slugger, very accurate and heavy, i did pay about $250 for it 8 years ago. I put a elastic shell holder around the stock and keep 5 slugs in that. For the price i would highly recommend it.

Yes I think I'm going to buy it. What scope did you put on yours?

I put a Bushnell banner 1-5 power on it, i think it was about $80 then, with winchester protection gold i was getting about 4" group at 100 yards, my buddy had to use a litefield slug to get groups like that. So you might have experiment but when you find the right load you will be happy.

around my neck of the woods this is a very popular gun. most shoot the Hornady SST or Remington Accutips. the gun will shoot one or the other extremely accurately. But not both 1 1/2" groups at 100 yards not a problem.
