north facing slopes

We often look for elk on cool, north facing slopes in the early seasons. Do you think mule deer also favor north slopes?

Yes they do. They also prefer a bed site in which provides them a lookout or panoramic view. Mule deer will seek shade in areas like the tops of ridges, under overhangs, bottom of cliffs, & on any north facing slopes, and always check out the pockets of scrub brush or sage brush. They are alway looking for shade.
