Wolves, getting ridiculous

Postby wawhitey » 03 31, 2021 •  [Post 1]

So just up the road from my house i set a couple cams in december, due to wolf tracks being a constant thing. They obviously favor this area. Put up 2 cams a few months ago and wolves have run by them on thirteen separate days since then. Absolutely ridiculous. Most recent was yesterday at 10:30 am, cam was an hour off due to daylight savings time. This is clearly their favorite area to raise hell in. Wdfw was chasing them around my house with a chopper again not too long ago. But really, on cam 13 times in 3 months????

Im very much considering prioritizing wolf hunting this fall over deer and elk. As long as i get 2 bears here in washington i really wont need venison. Im thinking about spending all my free time starting in october over in western montana this year. Buy a couple wolf tags and just focus on that. I have a friend that moved to eureka last fall and another friend that recently moved to stevensville. Hoping theyll have some intel for me. Right now im just checking out google earth and onx to get a few ideas. But im feeling like this should be my priority this season.

Might as well throw Idaho into the mix. You have to drive through it to get to MT anyway. I've heard them a couple times and laid eyes on them once in 5 years back there hunting deer and elk, close to civilization. I know guys that get further in that see them frequently. That's during rifle deer and elk seasons. Get in there when things are quiet, I bet you could knock a couple down.
I hunt therefore I am. I fish therefore I lie.

Screw idaho. Im not hunting there again. Whole season over there was a crap fest all year. Besides, a non res who wants to just hunt wolves can get his license and a wolf tag in montana for $75. Compare that to the cost of a license and wolf tag in idaho $216.75.
