a buddy and I went for a little change of pace, some C&R sturgeon fishing, nice weather, steady action, and a couple pigs ;)

That's awesome, catching dinosaur fish! I can't remember, what is the size you can keep?

Cannot keep any, it has been closed for retention for a few years now, but when you could, 54" to the fork, basically a 5' fish.

I never cared for eating them, they are ok, but not good enough to justify killing such a cool fish.

Really fun to fish for though, love seeing them up close, mine even went air born.

Neat fish.

We use to go to Bonneville Dam when the shad were running,.. the 10,12 13 footers would roll on the surface

Great pics, sturgeon are definitely on the bucket list. Is there a better time of year to fish for them??

Where I fish them, spring is best, a different estuary a little north I do well in fall and winter. By about this time, the fish are still there but the little crabs get so thick you cannot keep a bait on.
