When?

Postby Swede » 05 30, 2017 •  [Post 1]

Are you going to do some scouting for elk this summer? When do you plan to head out to the elk woods? Will you leave behind some trail cameras to carry on the scouting while you are back home?

I will be heading out in July and be gone about a week and a half. I plan to leave several cameras behind. I may also drop off some salt/bate in Oregon, but it is useless in season. It does draw bulls in the Summer so you know what is around.

As soon as I can!! I'm guessing it will be close to the end of June before I get out. I just bought 3 new trail cameras that were super cheap, hope they get the job done. I have 2 new areas I found at the end of last season that I want to check on as much as I can this summer.

Last part of July. Not so much as scouting, but to show another hunter where to hunt. I need to wait and see what leftover tags are available. Then see if I can buy one, before I do another scouting trip. That will be in mid August

Hopping the brother goes out the end of June. New zone just looking for a few campsites and the lay of the land. My guess the camera well stay home his wife is going he is probably not going to venture out to far. Just finding a few campsites is huge, last year it took us 3 hours to find home and it wasn't that great but time was not on our side we were setting up at 9 at night, hunting the next morning after driven all night (20. Hours ). Does anyone have a starting point for zone 69/84 Colorado. I pretty sure we got drawn for muzzleloader bull tags according to the backdoor.

I heading out late July or late August to check out new territory. Bought a hunt plan and now need to see how accurate it is. And if my Wyoming plan ever gets hear swing down and really make a trip out of it. Looking for camping spots and checking out some roads that look and from the sounds of it from taking to the game warden are real rough and not in good shape. Find a spot to park the truck then hike in and find a spot to set up a camp. Find water and hope like crazy when season rolls around there are elk
