I learned or learned again that just becuse your trail camera shows many pictures of bulls during daylight hours, does not mean they will be around during the hunting season that begins on Saturday. BTW where do those rascals go? Why don't they come back? :D

I learn something new every year and if I can remember all the lessons as I go into a new season I would probably have a lot more elk on the ground! Instead it usually takes a few blown up opportunities for me to remember what I already knew but forgot...Glad I'm not a bomb tech!
Here are a couple things:
1. Call softly when the elk are shy.
2. If it sounds like the elk are close, they are.
3. It's easier to get a shot through the trees if you're in a kneeling position than if you're standing. It's also easier to see the elk moving around since you can see their legs under the pine bows.
4. I cannot out walk my kids.
5. You will always pay for that extra bowl of chili. It may not be that night or even the next day, but it's going to eventually come back to haunt you.
