have you killed one yet? have you killed more than one? is that all you will kill? how long did it take for your first dominant bull?

I've taken herd bulls & will happily shoot a 5 point too on an OTC tag! I sure hope to put a few more down but they are not my ultimate goal or eat tag soup! Herd Bull size can vary from unit to unit & state to state, not all are 340" bulls or bigger! (grin)

In my 4 years of archery, had 4 opportunities to aggressively work dominant herd bulls at close range (under 80 yards) and so far it is 1 for 4. Depending on the situation at hand, if a dominant larger bull is at hand with lesser satellite(s) around, my target will be the herd bull and will pass on the satellite. However, I will not hesitate to take any single legal bull if the shot opportunity presents itself. Hunting on pressured OTC public land, you may not get a second chance but a tag soup.

I have killed "herd bulls". I have never killed a major 300+ class one yet. We have a few, but they are the exceptinon where I hunt. Like Elknut said herd bull size varies a lot.

Never killed a herd bull, just a 5pt satellite. I'd take any legal bull or cow though... I haven't hunted enough to be picky yet!
