Montana Unit 329

Postby GoGriz1234 » 12 30, 2016 •  [Post 1]

After trying some other units on SW Montana I am thinking of hunting unit 329 this year. I thought about hunting over the mountains in Idaho, but I have a buddy who is going to hunt with me who is going to try to get a B tag in the unit (less expensive for him than Idaho). I am just starting to electronically scout this area and I will get boots on the ground this summer, but I thought I would reach out to the collective here and see if anyone has any general experience or pointers on this unit. Any pointers and or insight would be appreciated - we will be rifle hunting this year out of a wall tent.

Happy New Years weekend to everyone! Hopefully this is the year of the elk (in the freezer)!

A lot of that country is sagebrush with scattered trees. Access on Grasshopper creek is tough on the lower end. I have cut sign of elk south of Bannock but I don't know of any large herds. Check with Fwp biologist for some insight. Bloody Dick creek might be a target but many of the elk on the border units run for Idaho at the first shot. That country is steep and high. Enjoy
