Rookie on board

Hey there! First time poster to Wapiti Talk. Sorry if I am posting to the elk forum if I should be posting an intro to the virtual campfire or another more appropriate forum. I'd like to give a shout out to Rory. Thanks a ton for the goodies you sent me. You seem like a heck of a nice guy. Swede tells me I won a contest that I didn't even know i put in for. Ha! Next time Swede, put me in for the Powerball please. I've been on other forums in the past and never left technically but I often go MIA due to life being suuuuuper chaotic. I really haven't had 2 seconds to go "online" in a long time. I've been on BT Outdoors and Paul's a long time ago and I thought they were very nice folks. Paul was always super helpful when I had scenario questions I had run into in the woods. I also have been on Ifish but none of those would I claim to be big contributors to or offer any "valuable" insight. Anyhow, I have 3 kids that keep me running and this past summer moved from in town suburbia Medford to just outside city limits. I love it as I now have some acreage to practice my with my bow, shoot critters, pee wherever I want to outside and not have my neighbors object to any of the aforementioned activities. I'm sure my former neighbors won't mind me not passing the occasional arrow through their fence. Oooops. That and if I see a critter (squirrel, cats, whatever) that needs attention, I don't have to look over my shoulder and pray nobody saw it. But I am finding it isn't all cookies and cream. It is a decent sized house built in 1972 that needs A LOT of upgrading. So my visions of siting on the deck, enjoying a brew, and providing the attention critters NEED are on hold while I find myself doing much more pleasant things like pealing wallpaper from a bathroom. OH JOY! So that past year has been complete chaos as we also welcomed another hunter to the fam. I can't believe the lil guy will be one soon. So anyhow....not to drag on....I look forward to playing on this site! Cheers!

It's about time you showed up here, but you are flying false colors. You are no rookie. You have been hunting since you were a kid and have killed more elk than many. Anyway welcome to camp.

Thanks for the welcoming fellas. I'm ready to keep Swede in line. Jer, I know you probably worked out all the bad ju ju this past September! I can't wait to see the monster bull you kill in 2017 to make up for it!!!

And yes hoping the bad ju ju is gone. After three failed shots this year, I have decided the switchback xt has run its course ( has to be the bow right!) and I am purchasing a new bow this winter, been shooting the Halon at the archery shop these past two weeks. Im in love, but waiting to see what improvements if any, Mathews rolls out come November before making a purchase, oh and having to take a second morguage on the house to afford one, holy smokes I have forgotten how expensive a new bow is. But 10 years with the SBXT, seems I've gotten my $ worth.

Hoping you will return to hunt with us next year, if for no other reason than to help bring down the average age in camp!

Of course it was the bow! I died laughing with the pic you sent me while you were in your stand btw. You sir....know how to hunt. I definitely am hankering for some east side action again. I missed it for sure. I hate the idea of not pursing a Rosie bull though. It would be nice to be in two places at once. I had fun chasing those Rosies the first week. We saw elk every day and since it was a completely new area to me I can't expect to score without putting in my dues. If spikes were legal I could have been done in the first hour of light but they weren't.....so I ended up empty handed. I learned though and that's never a complete loss. Funny how one bull can love the cow call and the next one it sends him running for the hills!
