2 oregon 5x5's!

Postby mattstanton » 09 17, 2012 •  [Post 1]

I killed mine here in oregon on friday at 75yds with a heart shot and a 125yd tracking job. Open country so long shots are common! Dad killed his the next evening at 62yds! I would post pics but I can't figure out how to resize them.

Wow, 75 yards? That's a long shot. Congrats on being able to make a clean kill at that yardage.

Not sure what operating system/type of computer you are using... I'm assuming that you are using a windows platform--I'm using a Mac right now, but off the top of my head-- you can resize a photo by doing the following:

- Open the picture
- Right click the image
- Select "open with" and "paint"
- In the Paint screen look for a for the resize option (should be located near the "crop" tool at the top, I think.)
- Within the resize box, select the pixels tab instead of the % tab.
- Plug in 800 in the first box.
- Re-save the image, and then upload.

Matt, those are deep for sure!! Congrats to the both of you! I resize photos the same as Panhandle! Your resizing is done on your PC while in "Your Pictures" -- You cannot resize here on the "upload photo option"

the bulls look like nice ones but your pictures are too tiny. try that sizing trick again but a little bigger.

mine was 75yds and dads was 62yds. I know that that can be a touchy subject but I shoot all year long, have 7 pins that are dialed in and the situation was perfect. Flat, open, no wind and the bull was not aware we were there. We did not call either of these bulls in. Mine was spotted early and the terrain allowed us to get ahead of him really quickly and when he popped out we were not set up to all him closer because of the open terrain. Dad ranged the bull and I put it in the boiler room. Dads bull was shot while sitting a meadow that we had seen a 370 bull in a couple nights earier. Again we were not calling in hopes the big bull would come down and our experience with him told us not to call much at all. I gave a mew or two here and there to direct a potential bull our way and this bull came down right in front of us with 3 cows to 60yds. They started feeding away and when the bull turned to follow, THWACK!
