Elk in the fields

Postby BowElkDwn » 06 11, 2012 •  [Post 1]

The elk have moved back into the fields here in Idaho. The snow has finally dropped enough for them to move back in. I saw over 50 head in different little herds right off the road. They were far enough off that I didn't notice any antlers.

In Oregon, the initial reports are that winter kill was light. Elk and deer numbers should be strong.

It looked like there was a good amount of cows and calves out there but that was just as I was going by. Now if they can just stay away from the wolves they should be fine.

Saw about 15 elk this morning driving in up here in Northern California (cows, spikes and babies). Been driving to work the "back way" due to road construction....and I told myself last week to put the camera in the car...never got around to it unfortunately!

It's pretty rare to spot them out here (East of Redding)
