Idaho, here I come!

Postby Freebird134 » 09 07, 2012 •  [Post 1]

Just boarded my plane and will be back in Idaho in a few hours. Off to a great start: I got the seat with extra leg room! Haven't web home in 3 years so I'm stoked. Will be deer hunting with my dad for the next 5 days, then elk for 9 or 10 days after that. Will keep y'all posted!

Weather is suppose to get colder here in Idaho so that should fire up the bulls!! Good Luck!

Hey Brandon, give me a call & maybe we can meet up for a minute or so if things work out! The bulls should start up any time now, night calling should prove worthy!

Will do Paul. Right now just headed into town for a new tire--camper tire blew and no spare! Saw some deer yesterday but no shooters yet. I'd really love to get some fresh backstrap to take to elk camp thursday!

Put a stalk on a good mulie tonight, at 125yards a covey of quail busted me. When the buck stood up, he had a huge mass on his left throat--the white patch was stretched 8" to his left. As he stotted off I saw the problem: someone took a rear end shot and an arrow nock was sticking out to left of his spine. I got back on him a little later and watched him til dark. Going to see if I can't find and kill him. He doesn't look like he'll last anyway.

Oh my god.

Got to town from deer hunting today. My buddy is in the air right now, and we are supposed to backpack into our area for the next 10 days. But....a fire started this weekend miles from our spot and te fire is moving right to our area. Literally couldn't be worse. While area closed.

Did I mention we were supposed to be leaving for there in the morning??? Super sucky.

Just got back from 5 days in an impromptu spot. Our planned location is still closed from fires. We heard a few bugles, got within 100 yards on 2 bulls, but no shots at elk yet. I killed a mule deer doe last night just because I needed to at least notch one tag and get some meat on this trip.

Paul: just left you a message. We are at a laundry mat in McCall and headed back into the woods soon. Would be great to meet up if it works out!

Heart shot at 30 yards. Went maybe 50 and died 5 ft from an atv trail. Nice treat after walking 9 miles out our last camp!

Hey paul, I just saw this. Sorry we couldn't meet up in McCall this year. We struck out on elk, but had a good time anyway. Those fires reallly threw a kink in our plan!!
