Good to know and welcome Larry.

After building points in all the western states for the past 15 years things would be a lot easier if the states just mailed me the tag I wanted when I wanted. :)

I tried this app at the Denver Sportsmens Expo. Works great and was spot on accurate for the units I am familiar with. Highly Recommend.

First. Welcome Larry. Probably a good thing for hunters that are not savvy in figuring these things out.

I have a few comments. I'm not criticizing or not saying don't use this service and it is probably faster than doing it all yourself.

The last slide showing 100% with 3 points, Unit 12 ML,Either sex is way off. It takes 12-13 points to draw that tag. Maybe it is just an example. I hunt that unit every year with a ML ,but cows, and talk to lot of NR hunters in that unit. A good friend of mine is an outfitter there.

In Colorado, you don't just only burn points required for a particular unit. As an example,if you have ten points and apply for a unit that only takes 6, and get first choice, all ten points go away and you have zero then. If you get 2nd choice, your points stay and you add one more

If a person visits the Colorado CPW web site and goes to Hunting, then Big B Game ,there is a page with statistics and you can readily tell how many points it took last year to draw a tag. It will show how many applicants, how many tags were given out, how many with 1st choice drew, how many with 2nd choice drew, how man with 3rd choice drew, etc. It also breaks down residents, nonresidents, and youth applicants etc.

What the Statistic don't show is how many guys put in for point and build them up .Then they apply for a select unit.I don't think this service takes that into account either. As an example.I was building points for a trophy area in NW Colorado that only had 25 tags each year. I had 19 points and the statistics table showed I needed 19. However, guys that never specified a unit had more and it took me another three years to draw that tag.

Then you get into the weighted points for moose, sheep, and goat and that gets even more complicated. You only ever accrue 3 points, but each year after that you get a weighted point. It supposedly gives you a mathamatical advantage to draw a tag,but someone with less weighted points than you can draw. Another example. Last year I drew a cow moose tag, 3 points and 13 weighted points. My hunting partner had the same, but the other tag went to a young fellow that only had 3 points and4 weighted points.

Saddlesore, You seem very knowledgeable about the draw system. You obviously know what a pain it can be to sort out the odds with all factors considered. Just to clear up a point about the last slide, it does take 12 points to draw unit 12 muzzleloader as a non-resident, but the final slide example is listing the odds for a resident.

I know my way through the fish and game websites really well for the states I hunt. So does my one partner. But he bought this app a few weeks ago and said he really likes it a lot. He's a smart guy so that's all I need to know to gives it 2 thumbs up.

The one thing I would be interested to see is the predicted number of points I will need this year after factoring in the increase in required points in previous years. In other words what will guarantee a license based on point creep.

Welcome aboard Larry!

WOW
I spend a ton of time pouring over all the public data these states put out and I can't imagine the time it took to compile all these statistics.
This app is incredible. It's well worth the fee to have all this at your finger tips. I'm not sure how they figured odds on New Mexico but having those is wonderful. I've been figuring them for weeks and my estimates were barely in the ballpark. The graphing from year to year is helpful as well. Thanks for sponsoring this forum and thanks to the moderators for finding these guys. They are an asset to this place for sure..

One thing that would be nice is an upgrade for Alaska.
