Wyoming Guided Hunt Opportunities

As some of you know in addition to offering DIY hunt plans I also book hunts for a couple outfitters. I figured I'd make a post real quick outlining what my Wyoming guy offers in case anyone is looking for a great guided hunt in 2016. Remember the end of January is the license app deadline in Wyo.

The Forest Service on the west side doesn't authorize drop camps or semi guided hunts. In a way it's nice because there are very few camps per outfitter. So the hunts are all fully guided. A 6 day 2 on 1 hunt is $3900 per hunter. A 1 on 1 hunt is an additional $150 per day or $4800. 4 day cow elk hunts are $2000.

I did a little guiding in the area myself and I hunt some adjacent spots. The hunting is very good. In bow season you have an option of either a drive to base camp or a pack in camp waaaaay up on top. Hunters ride out of both camps on horses each day. Sometimes, depending on weather, the first rifle hunt might take place in part at the upper camp.

Hunting during both bow and gun is for either sex elk. The rifle season opens in late September so the bulls are still bugling. I would have to check on availability but he has one hunt that is half bow and half gun. Pretty cool. You get to seek revenge on bulls that gave you the slip on the first few days of hunting. That hunt usually fills fast.

I have a friend who guides for this outfitter. He guided for me in Montana for several years and we became friends for life. Great guy with a good sense of humor and he knows how to hunt his area. If you book a hunt through me I always request that he is your guide.

I only book for 1 outfitter in Wyoming and 1 in Montana. I know the areas well and have confidence in the outfitters and their guides who I also know. Otherwise I wouldn't bother. Last year was a particularly good season there and things have been doing very well there. It's beautiful country to hunt and the food is great too.
