Wapiti Talk Forum "Calling" Card

Postby WapitiTalk1 » 12 18, 2015 •  [Post 1]

Designed for field use/reference by newer elk hunters, we've developed the Wapiti Talk "Calling" Card. It covers basic elk calling tactics that will hopefully, assist some newer elk hunters as they head to the elk woods in the coming years. A BIG thanks to Swede for coming up with the concept and co-authoring the calling card. If you print this out, cut it on the horizontal dotted lines, and, along the right edge of the shown text vertically, you'll have four small card sized sheets that will fit on two 3X5 Index Card sized pieces of paper (front/back). Recommend you laminate the little cards and carry them in your cargo pockets during future elk hunting adventures. I hope some of you WT'ers get some use out of this! Thanks to all for being members of the Wapiti Talk Hunting Forum.

Thank you, Swede and Rory. What a great 101, never saw calling basics represented so simply and concisely. Christmas came a little early to the forum, with a gift that is sure to keep on giving.

Rory, very nice & well done sir, everyone should copy it & carry it with them, those are great basic thoughts to start with that have been well proven over the years! Thanks, I love it!

I too want to thank Rory for developing the card. He put a lot of work into it. There is a lot there, and it should be handy for hunters until they have a lot of experience with elk hunting an area. I would recommend you place this on your computer, keep an original on file, but over time don't be afraid to modify the copy to meet your personal needs. You will pick up tips here on W.T., that you will want to keep track of. You can supplement or replace some of the things on the card to personalize it.

Just printed it out and taped it in various areas of the Elknut Playbook. I also have taped a Sunrise/Sunset chart in the front.

Could you email me that word doc also? Need to do a little light formatting to get it to fit in my field notebook.

Model70, welcome to the forum. I don't check the Calling Card very often. It is good to have you in camp. Grab a cup of coffee and find a seat near the campfire. BTW, I like a model 70 Winchester as well as any gun made and more than most.
