First time elk hunter unit 444

Postby Confetty » 10 08, 2015 •  [Post 1]

I'm a long time whitetail hunter from the flatlands of kansas. Been in colorado for several years but just this year I've gotten the bug for hunting the all elusive elk. I drew muzzleloader for gmu 56 but turns out elk are a little smarter than the deer. Well Im looking for some help, I'm gonna give it a try again and Im here asking to see if anyone can help me with a starting point for gmu 444 second rifle... any help would be appreciated here.

Hey that would be great, I do appreciate that. I'm really not looking to taking anyone's honey hole and Im sure not trying to break any code of hunting ethics. No leftover tags around Colorado springs that I can get, 444 is the closest unit I could get into from what I can tell and its a little too far to be doing a whole lot of scouting. Email me if you could, Ive tried to PM people on here and they don't go through... I guess I am too new to send PMs? Here is my email confetty74@gmail.com

No problem, there is no honey hole secrets that i'll give you, just areas that we were at that are usually sucessful in the later seasons. I can get you started and the rest is up to you, using good elk map scouting you will at least find some good spots to check out. I have no problem helping people out, plenty of people have helped me over the years. Email on the way.

Confetti, make one more post and you can then send/receive PM's. I believe you need 3 posts.

Thanks for the info thus far. Anyone else out there have any suggestions? I'm open to anything, unfortunately the unit is so far from home I can't do much scouting before season.
