I won't have the reception or battery power to check in regularly, if at all. Unfortunately!

I'll just be checking in from home. I don't have a smart phone but live really close to my hunting area.

Came home and will go antelope hunting tomorrow. We saw a whole lot of nothing. Not much sign no elk and not even any does! We will go back up next weekend and hopefully get some more action then. Did find a good spot to try out though.

I can get about 3 bars on my I phone, well, at least last year I could. I am posting this from my phone to see if it works. If I can, I will post updates from the field. I leave for Co. on Thurs. morning for a week of backcountry hunting.

Let's see if I can post a picture from my phone.

Yes! Tapatalk, do you have it? If so, once you select reply the second icon on the bottom of our screen is where you download your pic to the forum. This will take you to your photos and you select one photo at a time to download! Good luck.

I am leaving for Colorado tomorrow morning from SE wisconsin. Me, my nephew, and a freind are packing in about 3 miles for a backcountry (sort of) hunt. We will be camped at about 10K near a big medow that had a lot of elk last year. We saw a lot of elk last year, and hopefuly we will be a little smarter this year and have prep and luck come together. We hope to get some trout fishing in during the day. Last year we were able to catch a few to cook over the fire.

I will try to post some updates from the field if I can get a signal. Good luck to everyone!

Went up yesterday hunted the evening and this morning. Very very slow. Haven't seen or herd an elk much less any mulies. No fresh elk sign. I don't know where all the animals are!! Really starting to look like time for plan B.

checking in from your smartphone

Postby treestanding » 09 03, 2012 •  [Post 23]

No luck with the reception from camp, but we are in town today for showers and lunch.
We made it to camp ok, but until yesterday evening, things were pretty slow. 11 elk last night, 4 bulls. I was sitting in a ground blind over a wallow. Had 2 5x5's fighting about 400 yards across the meadow. I also had a 3x3 at 30 yards. I just could not get him to grow a 4th point.
Have to get back to camp, will post more when I get home.

Whenever I have a signal, I post from the field to my blog, Facebook and Twitter. The first week of archery elk in northwest CO, I had no signal in the area we hunted. It was kind of refreshing actually to be disconnected from the rest of the world.
