How do you pack your side arm?

Postby >>>---WW----> » 08 21, 2012 •  [Post 1]

Here is how I pack with my Mystery Ranch Crewcab. There is a gap on each side between the lower back pad and the belt. The holster I use has one of those clips on it that is a royal pain in the poop chute to get off your belt. I slide the holster in the gap between the back pad and the belt of the pack and it isn't going anywhere.

And here is how it is done on my Badlands Superday. My Glock 27 fits right in the belt webbing and no holster is needed. I added a velcro retainer strap to secure it in. Just about any semi-auto will fit in the webbing.

The Superday has a holster buily on the inside of the belt on both sides that are totally worthless. Trust me! One day I had to draw and couldn't get to the gun. Luckily, I had time to undue the belt so I could reach my gun. This is when I figured there just had to be a better way.

I carry mine right on my hip. ( open carry )It's just waiting on me if i ever need it.I also keep one inside my pack. This yr I will be having bear spray with me. I hear its much more effective. I'm sure it would work on just about any critter.I carry the XD 45 and keep a glock sub 45 or a 357 revolver in my pack.Whatever i feel like putting in there.Fact is,I do carry something with me.

It looks like you have it figured out there >>>---ww---> THAT LOOKS LIKE A GOOD SET UP. I have a smith&weston 357mag revolver with a 6" barrel and it is a pain in the ^*^* to pack. So I don't even care it anymore. Time to buy a new one right. :D :D

Just had this made because it took 45 mins last season to find the glock after I took my pack off for a stalk on my bull and my buddy grabbed my pack on a dead run after I shot and somehow flipped the gun out. I had it in the webbing just like the pic above on my superday .... The other reason was after one day hunt I pulled it out and looked it over and had a small rock stuck in the bore from when we were sitting in a hill side glassing I love the way it turned out and its from the same guy who made my Edc carry gun holster and its a year old and still looks brand new so I know the quality is there on this one as well.

I carry mine in an HPG Kit Bag. Very comfortable, always on me even if the pack isn't, and it's a faster draw than any of my belt holsters or my safe packer. Plus it totes other gear as well.

That looks like a good idea RockChucker. But if your a bow hunter I would think it would get in the way of drawing your bow. But maybe not. :?:

I pack mine into the gun cabinet where it belongs. I can't think of a heavier, more useless thing to strap to my pack.

I use a Badlands Superday, and have found that a crossdraw arrangement works best for me.

I'm a bow hunter. It doesn't interfere. It's just like shooting with a bino harness on. Btw, I still use my bino harness below the kit bag.

I don't carry either, but then again I have only been hunting a few years. (45+) I have never found a need for one. With that being said, I know quite a few other deputies that do carry while hunting. If anyone is more comfortable with one, I am all for it.
