Tag team setup question

Hey elknutters. Interested to figure out if you have a shooter 50 yards in front of you but cannot see them, what do you do to reposition each other? So lets say the the setup needs to move forward another 100 yards. What do you do to communicate with the caller/shooter?

me and my buddies tend to use bird whistles, but when its go time and we are setting up on a bull or cow they are usually too close to move..

A lot depends on the experience of the shooter & what the caller & shooter have talked about previously to be prepared for most situations. Generally the caller calls the shots here but if shooter has more experience & knows the gap needs to be closed for whatever reason he can make his way back close enough to get callers attention that they need to move up. Many times when I'm caller & I feel a move has to be made I will go to the shooter & motion we need to get closer & setup, a lot depends on the elk you're working & their aggressive bugling or non aggressive bugling, each situation can be different.

In many cases the distance from caller to shooter can vary from 10 yds in thick country & working a herd bull to 100 yds in more open country, don't get hung up on a 50 yd mark.

Too, if you have a fairly vocal bull & he's not coming your way even though you're setup inside 100 yards then the caller may stay put keeping bull vocal & the shooter may leave his position & silently stalk the bull for a shot, talk about things like this beforehand with your hunting partners so all are on the same page!
