public land 38 archery elk

I am new to CO elk hunting and will be focusing on GMU 38 this archery season. Anyone willing to provide some tips on hunting elk around the mass of Denver-ites headed up for camping/hiking/hunting on public land? I have focused my scouting efforts in wilderness areas and high country. Have seen some elk, but unsure how they will respond come hunting season. Thanks for any info.
