Crazy elk story

Postby lovestobowhunt » 08 19, 2012 •  [Post 1]

So, last year during rifle season in Eastern Oregon...I wasn't hunting, hubby was, as I only have bow tags now :). One evening, going out looking around after he got his deer, there was a elk bugling to the cows. Not elk cows, moo cows. They kept mooing at him and he kept bugling. They kept moving closer to each other. I'm assuming they finally connected, but we left before then.

So, do you think this elk being a herd animal, didn't want to be by himself? I'm sure he didn't think moo cows were elk cows.

That's not unheard of. Here in New Mexico a few years back there a was bull elk that had him a heard of moo cows. He was so protective he would fight off the moo cow bulls. Game and fish finally had to kill him.
