Wapi Park

Postby Lefty » 04 05, 2015 •  [Post 1]

My wife and I took her new ride for its first trip. A short ride covering normal desert elk country and looking for sheds in typical winter desert habitat.
we cut a single fresh elk track,.. I think we bumped the elk. We spent a bit of time glassing for that single elk and never did spot it.

The map stated Wapi Park was a great place to camp. I expect it might be overrun by maybe a camp per year. Note the heavily used road>

As we entered the area my wife joked," Wheres the picnic table?
Over-all a nice ride, no elk or deer were spotted and only one young buck antelope, we didn't find any sheds, and a bit disappointing the lack of recent elk sign

Is that your first arctic cat? If so i thought id tell you something that would have saved me a hike off the mountain when my fan fuse blew. The little wrench set under the seat of mine did not have the proper size wrench (8mm?) To remove the cover to access the radiator. Might want to see if they fixed that. Mine is a 2012. If it had the proper sized wrench i could have put water in my radiator and rode the thing home instead of walking

First Arctic Cat!
The Honda served us well but the Honda dealer doesn't provide the service the Cat dealer does. This machine is for my wife . I wont be using it for hunting unless she is along too. (bear hunt in two weeks :P )
Ill check the repair kit. I think it has the wrench, but not sure about the fuse. My wife will be ticked if she needs to walk because of something overlooked and that simple.

The Power steering is a game changer on the bigger machines sure is nice.
Thanks
