Call Recommendation

Postby JohnFitzgerald » 08 05, 2012 •  [Post 1]

About 2 weeks ago I started working with the "Full Rut" reed. Before that, my go to calls were the "All Star" and the "Raging Bull". I have to say that I'm very impressed with the "Full Rut". It allows me to do those high pitched location bugles and in the next breath allows me to do a deep, throaty, scream. I'd still recommend the "Mellow Yellow" for beginners, but for those of you who have some experience, you might consider giving the "Full Rut" a try.

Anyone else going to use the "Full Rut" this year?

Thanks,
jf

I have to agree with Paul on the closer and raging bull, but I've gotten so good at voice growls, chuckles, and screams that I think I won't need 'em except for cow sounds. I can tell my mother that all those noises I made as a kid (was a hyper little dude) have finally paid off as I can make some very convincing bull noises!

Give the Herd Master a try. You can really hit those hi pitched notes that carry far. Great locator. I always say it goes where no elk has gone before. LOL! It is a great change up call to sound a little different than the Raging Bull and others.

I've been using the Full Rut as well, its my personal favorite and will be my go to in the field. The sounds that I can get out of that reed are second to none that I've ever tried. Everyone likes something just a bit different, but the Full Rut is top shelf for me!

I personally like the raging bull and the mello yello. Sounds like I am goingto have to give the Full Rut a try.

So true! I've been waiting on a buddy to let me know how many he wanted... but haven't heard from him. I just ordered a half dozen and we can sort that out later. If he doesn't want them I'll be stocked up for a while! LOL!

17-days!!!!!!!
