How far will they range?

Postby mjblowers » 09 07, 2014 •  [Post 1]

This spot I have is a ridge roughly 1 mile long with 3 fingers that go down it east, with the spots I'm zeroed in on being the north facing slopes.

I frequently glass them from afar, and this morning caught a big boy tailing another bull at a fairly brisk pace across an opening in between these ridges and then lost them in a clumping of trees probably 2 acres big. This was about 9 AM today before heading home, clear as a bell, and hot as ... Had they continued on this path and out of this group they'd have to go a good distance, maybe 1-2 miles before getting to what I would consider another bedding potential area.

I'm just wondering for future reference - would you do that 1500 ft ascent midday or look for other opportunities?

If I thought I had a chance to ambush them I would right then & there! Give them a few days at most & those bulls will be down where the cows are. Looking for them where you see them now may be a moot point! Once the rut starts it will be a game changer & things will get exciting! (grin)
