Do not sell yourself short on not shooting a elk on your 1st trip. Think positive. I shot a cow elk on my very 1st trip over 30 years ago with a bow, and I know a lot of 1st timers connecting every year. Three years ago some friends of mine from back east brought a new guy that had never hunted elk. He shot a beautiful 323 6x6 opening weekend. Your spending all that money and making plans for a chance at a elk. You have just as good a chance as any other guy in the woods. Try your best to get away from the roads and away from the majority of hunters and you could be surprised ;)

If you're talking about GMU 65 in Colorado, I hunted it last year for muzzle loader. Do you have an idea where you're going?
