Hey Brad, Theres not enough room to post them all!
A few of my favorites, I have 3 different micro SD cards
for different states and areas
"Dead Cow Pond" found a dead cow floating one time
"Dancing Wallow" caught a small bull dancing in the mud
"4 Sisters" a trail marker I use has 4 giant pine trees that grow together
"Aspen Elk" a stand of aspens that almost always has elk
"Favorite Wallow" obvious
"Bear Wallow" walked in a 300lb sow rolling in it
" Camp Custer" no indians
When you mark a lot of wallows you have to get creative. :?

Every water hole/wallow we have hunted has a neme. It is almost always about something that was significant about the location when we first started using it.
Antelope-- It was very unusual to see an antelope here, but my son did
Spike=- named after the first elk kill there
Lower Spike-- Lower down the drainage from Spike
Skeleton-- Guess what was found nearby?
Green Springs-- Had an old wooden tree stand painted green
Rub-- There are a lot of rubs in this area
D.R.-- Named after the person who owned the nearby land
Ross-- Named after a hunting friend who set up there
To name just a few. The nice part is that everyone who needs to know can identify the location by that name and no one needs an explanationm, except me. I forget sometimes.

One of my favorite spots is Uncle Larry's gut shot spot. Always elk in there.
I have a goal of naming one "360"

7 Wallows Road. This is a spot in MT that has the same 7 wallows every year and they are all in the same spot. Still amazed we haven't killed a bull out of it, but probably haven't hunted it religiously enough!

Hector's camp. At the top of this drainage is an old camp with "Hector" carved in the tree. Hector must not be a Bowhunter because we have never crossed paths.

My hunting partner and I really have not name the areas we hunt in but on every trip we have named the bull elk we have ran into on our hunts. Captin Hook he was one of my favorits he was a large 6X3, six on the left and three on the right he had two eye guards and his main beem sweep back and hooked forward. We chased him off and on for five days, I had him at 20,30 and 40 yards several times but never got the shot. It's one of those things that happens on the mountain that a guy will never foget.

My favorite is Bull Basin. Due to change of ranch managment we hav'nt been able to get in there for the last 3 years. WHAT A PLACE! Others have been Charlies point, the slide, slippery side, hidden valley, paradise gulch...crap, way to many to list. Wish they were all close enough to hunt from the same camp.

My fav is the 'Piss n Elk'

The story behind that is one morning after the 1st call set, I really had to pee after the early morning coffee I had.
I 'watered the lilies' and turned around and there were 3 standing there looking at me... my bow was on the ground

I certainly envy you hometown guys on this thread.
for a lot of reasons, this flatlander never hunts the same area much. So those endeared places never get much of a chance to develope.
but one wil always be remember by me is the aptly named..."40 bull meadow".

yeh....thats right.

We have one particularly brutal spot we call "The Ladder". Both hands and feet to climb it, but I'll always have it to myself!

Ya, we don't name our hunting areas either that I can recall for the most part. I have one that comes to mind called the Elk Trail but that's about it!

I have hunted the same area for years, so we have lots of names. Here are just a few.
Jawbone Ridge
Powderpuff nob
The bedroom-----not what your thinking, its where the elk sleep.
Lost Swede camp
The Bigfoot Hole
Hell hole
Won't go back canyon
Purple sock draw
I have been blessed with being able to hunt the same areas my grandpa and my dad did, so alot of the names of those places have a very special meaning to me. As I'm sure many of you do also. After all they have to be a special place are we wouldn't of bothered to name them right.

i have one..my brother named it vomit. he put a waypoint on where i puked.

it is the best spot ever..waaaayyy up there, so most hunters ignore it..impossible to get lost, easy glassing. just about verticle climbing tho..brutal. even the game biologist said.."you are going where?"..it borders one of the best pieces of elk property ever...and the fence is relatively low..elk step over it.

vomit is fitting.

impossible to draw a tag..bummer. but i keep trying.

haha, I love it. I have a brother that I made vomit twice by taking him up too steep of a mountain too fast when he wasn't in shape. He wouldn't say anything to me, he just kept pushing up the hill until his breakfast came out.... Maybe that is why he won't go hunting with me anymore :o

Some of my favorite places are
-Butt Shot canyon
-Slaughter Saddle
-The Honey hole
-Super Bowl
-Rub Ridge
-Paul's Rock
-Spike ridge

You won't find those spots on any maps but if you do run across them chances are you will find some old bones laying around :D

I went elk hunting for the first time about 5 yrs ago. My buddy Carroll met me in Colorado and we went to a place near Terrace reservoir. There was one area we climbed up to and I had climbed up between two towers of rock formations . After noticing me there he said Holly's Rock. So that was the first place that was named and he refers to that spot every time we start talking about our next venture.

So Holly's Rock is one and I'm sure we will have more in a few weeks.
Also my buddy from Louisiana. The place where he missed a shot at a nice bull ( Cajun Point )

The only one I have is Scarface Ridge. That's where I fell last year and took a 125 Muzzy to the cheek. Not my finest moment, but we patched that up and kept hunting.

A few that come to mind:

"The Knob"

"The Grassy Knoll"

"The Playground"

There are quite a few lakes in our area as well so the rest of the names are pretty much based on the nearest lake where we have routinely got into elk.
