Putting On The Uniform!

You know there's something about putting on a Uniform! Whether you're into Baseball, Football, Basketball, etc. That uniform represents who we are & what we stand for! The same applies to that Hunting Uniform! (Camo) Once that uniform goes on it's game on, it's a special feeling & one we look forward to all year long. We prepare for it & spend countless hours as we get our gear together & our bodies into mental & physical shape to tackle the unknown like no other! How many here feel the same way? There's nothing like the expectation & reality of an elk hunt! (grin)

I agree 110%... Nothing like putting on my camo for any hunt! But the elk woods, there is just something special about chasing the majestic elk in September, it's home away from home for me.

I still have some work to do to fit back into my uniform. I started my exercise program late this year.

I can't wait wait to put on the uniform paul!
It seemed like my uniform was getting tighter and tighter the last couple of years,and I sure can't afford to replace all my sitka,so between exercise and diet, I'm now down 30lbs.and need a belt to keep my pants up.LOL.
I'm looking forward to putting it all on, shooting with it all on, including my full day pack,washing it all, and packing it for the hunt! My goal was 30lbs. the weight of my bow and day pack,and the way I feel right now,I could chase an elk down,tackle em, and slit his throat before he knows what hit him....LOL.

Funny you bring this up! I never really thought about it as a uniform! But I have never understood how people can where camo everyday ! It is sacred to me ! Especially my backcountry gear! I will not wear it except for hunting! If I go on a backpack fishing trip it does not go. I couldn't imagine insulting it with a fishing trip! Not to mention fish stank!

Yup, when you crawl out of the tent in camo during elk season it's with the intention of putting an elk on the ground.

It means "Go Time". It puts me in a different frame of mind no matter which any animal I'm pursuing.

"Putting on the Uniform" means we are all in special places, doing something we absolutely love. There is NOTHING else like it.

+1, Lefty. My hunting clothes spend most of the time in a sealed tub w plenty of sagebrush. That smell means hunting, best time of the year.

Having spent four years in a military uniform and most of my Forest Service career wearing a uniform, I may feel different. Even though they are clothes for the job, when I put on my camo, I am all about hunting. I sure don't wear them around the house.

I wear ACUs everyday. I know exactly what Swede means, my hunting clothes are way different. When they go on, it's my time!

yeah baby.... got my hunting pants on and base layer to go survey a 20 story building... all stairs... pack loaded with headlamp and water...gonna be a long day cause I got my call in my pocket as well.....it is worse than christmas.....gonna be a long long long month
