Elk/Hunting Tattoos-Who Has Them?

Postby ElkNut1 » 07 02, 2014 •  [Post 1]

Curious if there are any here that sport the love of the sport? I personally don't have any but have seen some very cool ones in the past!

My hide has enough marks/blemishes without adding to it. No piercings, no makeup, no tattoos.

I've always wanted to get one. I thought a rib tattoo of vitals would be cool, maybe an arrow going through and coming out on the other side of the vitals. With the words kill zone incorporated in there somewhere. I'm just not a good enough artist to draw something up. Any good artist on here? :D

Go to http://www.createmytattoo.com It's a really good concept. Instead of going somewhere and telling just one artist what your idea is you start a contest. Prepay whatever amount you want through PayPal or by credit card. Then 10 or so artists will all submit their version of your vision based on a description you give. You can also submit pics from the internet, or your own rough drafts, for them to use as references. As you decide on a couple you can communicate with the artists and have them fine tune it to your liking. The artists are from all over the world. Also.. you can look at their portfolios and see which ones specialize in the style you are looking for then send them an invitation to make sure they consider entering your contest. A tattoo is for life so I would suggest putting up the most you can afford. There are some world class artists and they design full time for a living. They can't spend two days on a design for $50 so they wouldn't consider entering a low ball contest. In the end you choose a winner and they email you the stencil of the design ready to take to a shop near you to have inked.

I think it's the only way to go. After using it once I would never consider walking into some tattoo shop and limiting myself to the ideas of one person and here around Pittsburgh there really are some incredible artists.

i'm waiting my my mom to pass :D

just kidding..i did warn her tho. wife is on board.

i'm fully intrenched at my work. i wont get fired..nobody cares. i am going to do my forearm. but probably not hunt related..more wilderness related. i think i am gonna make it look like a chinese watercolor, but with a western forest scene..
for me, elk is just part of what i love about the outdoors..i love the entire package!!

thanks for the tat web site. sounds like great tool. i always try to give the actual tattoo artist a lil leeway to make any artwork or ideas i bring his own twist. most artists appreciate that freedom and it gives them a lil more ownership of your tat. have several tats no elk or deer yet but plan on a winter tat this year with whitetail, elk, and turkey mural mountain scene. going to be a big multi sit tat

It is. 10 or 15 artists working for you for the same money. Can't beat that right. If you know an artists that you like tell him to sign on and enter your contest too. I think the competitive aspect motivates them to work harder at the best design they can come up with.

A pretty good friend of mine had a tattoo of a peach put on her right butt cheek back in the 70's. She was a big fan of the Alman Bros Band and their "Eat a Peach" album was doing well.

A couple of years ago she was lamenting the fact that it now looked like a "dam musk melon"
