fly guys and gas money

just wondering if other gangs that travel long distances to hunt make the ones that want to fly out on their own pay a portion of the gas money to the ones that are driving out with all the gear?

Most guys/gals that can afford to fly could throw on a couple of extra bucks or a couple cases of beer.

If you're hauling gear for them, gear they'll use, food or hauling their elk home - I think it's reasonable that they chip in. Realistically - will be a longer and tougher trip for the driver. (Me personally - driving is more expensive but I'm doing it for the flexibility. He can buy a case of beer or a dinner or two, but that's about it...)

I'm the driver in my group. Actually prefer if others fly so I can travel on my own schedule. I'd go hunt alone if no one else wanted to go so I figure I'm spending the gas money either way. I wouldn't accept it if they offered

We have a partner that flies, due to costs, every other year. We have never asked, nor will we. He always shows up in a rental car, and some beverages, and groceries.

If the flyer is hauling meat for you then it would also be reasonable for you to chip in on his plane ticket.

I think it just comes down to the fact that everyone does their best. Usually they have limitations on work so quite often the choice to fly is beyond their control. is it takes two days to drive there and two to get back and they can only miss 8 or 9 days of work it wouldn't make sense to spend nearly half the time trying to punch an elk tag that can be hard to punch in a month sometimes. I don't think it gives just cause to penalize them. Airfare isn't cheap. These days baggage is extra. if you have a good partner who is dependable consider yourself lucky and leave it at that. One day the shoe may be on the other foot.

Yes sir, considering payment would be out of the question for me! Not saying everyone should exhibit my feelings but that's just me. I've had over 200 hunters visit & stay in our camp & call for them over the years & never have charged a dime. It's my passion & reason for living, that is to help others less fortunate than myself! I would not look down upon you if your feelings were diffent, different strokes for different folks!
