Im pretty sure he has moved on to "greener pastures", along with cnelk and jaquomo. really disappointing as they were very valuable to the forum. will be missed for sure!

Yes John was a moderator. But we have others. John didn't move on to other places as some others did. He chose to leave for personal reasons. Yes he will be missed as will any others but we have plenty of good members here who are generous and knowledgeable. As always this website will continue to be a valuable source of information where everyone can relax be themselves and have fun while we all learn.

There are a myriad of reason people leave a forum. People come here and go on a fairly regular basis. I can't keep track of all of you, but many that were here are missed. I enjoy the newbies. You are in many ways the reason for the forum. That said: it is sad when people you have come to know and appreciate are suddenly gone. I hope John is doing well.

Where did they go? They have a lot of knowledge to share. I will surely miss them. What forums are they on?

I have not seen John on any of the hunting forums I have been on. The others are all on a new forum they started.

I'm new to the sport of elkhunting. It will be another 5 years before my dad takes me hunting for a graduation gift. But I've been looking around at various sites, trying to increase my knowledge and found that most of the hunters like cnelk, Jaquomo, WW, and several others are hanging out on another place that is enjoyable and knowlegable.

Agreed! There is no hunting site that has an exclusive on elk hunting! It requires a variety of sites that can aid hunters as all of us are. Definitely look into what many have to offer so you can be a well rounded out elk hunter. You will find out as many of us here have that you will favor 3-4 tops that you will visit daily, hopefully some fine tips & tactics will be found as well as a nice social atmosphere will exist in those hand chosen ones, good luck!

I'm new on here and a lot of things I know nothing about. But it sounds like several members that seemed to have been well respected are now gone. What happened? Was there an accident or something? I surely hope not.

People are like seasons, some are in our presence longer than others. Enjoy them while you have them.

Well said dreamhunter. I like this place, this Elknut campfire, above all others for many reasons. I choose to make this place my number one elk campsite because in my opinion, it is "the" elk forum. I'm honored that so many call this place their favorite place to pull up a stump by the fire and discuss hunting strategies for these big galoots, and, look forward to many, many more elk seasons with my Elknut family. Carry on.......

They took their ball and went home. After you spend some time on forums you'll see its pretty typical.

I just received an email saying they were banned from here for mentioning a competitors name. Corey Jacobsen is what I was told. Who is he? If so, that is very childish. I sure wouldn't treat my friends that way.

I will be going away on a long planned vacation starting tomorrow. Don't start a thread title "Where's Swede."

Hey swede, this is the 2nd vacation you've had in the last 3 weeks, what's up dude! (grin) Hey, have a great time!

Guys/Gals, thanks a bunch for the support & knowing both sides to the story here!

aroflinger, as a new member you shouldn't have to hash over old hash, it's really uncalled for & doesn't help you out in furthering your elk hunting career, for this I apologize sir! This Site is about helping one another to successfully pursue one of the most awesome big game animals know to man, I assume that's why you stopped by yourself? For some to PM you about old hash trying to deter you from one forum to another is just plain wrong & unethical. The 3 that were removed were done so for having bad attitudes & derogatory comments towards forum members including myself, that in itself when done repetitiously will not be tolerated by most hunting forums on the net. These individuals knew exactly what they were doing, they just didn't care even when I approached them through PM's & phone calls to remedy the situation. Using Corey Jacobsen is an excuse to make themselves look better, they can twist things any way they wish but it was their bad attitudes that led to their removal. Feel free to visit both sites & see how they both operate then you can make your own decision as to the ones you want to stick with, don't let others decide for you. Good Luck! By the way, you seem to handle yourself pretty well for a 13 year old! (wink)

I have a little over an hour before I head out, so I stopped in one more time before I head out.
Paul: I have more grand kids :D Those I am going to see today all need piggy back rides. Maybe I can call it preparing for a September pack out. They are a little lite, but I guess I can work up if necessary. I do know they can tire me out in a couple hours.
