Hay All,

I just wanted to introduce myself. I have rifle hunted my whole life (Elk and Deer) and the last few years I have tried to bow hunt. This year I really want to work on being a successful bow hunter (Elk). I grow up in Arkansas hunting white-tails and Utah hunting elk and Mule deer and know reside in Oregon where I have had a chance to hunt Roosevelt’s and black tail. I'm married and have 4 kids, 2 boys and 2 girls. My oldest is getting really interested in bow hunting, which is so exciting to me, but I don’t feel like I know enough to mentor him when it comes to bow hunting.

One of my main goals this year is to work on the art of calling. My experience with calling is none. I have played around with making cow sounds with a Primos mouth reed, but I have no field experience.

Another goal is to find a buddy that has the same desires in learning how to bow hunt, so that I can share my enthusiasm and we can learn and plan hunts together.

I hope that I can get to know everyone and learn many great habits while doing so.

Hey Brian, welcome to "the" elk forum. Pull up a log by the fire, kick your boots off, and join in the conversations. If your socks are stinky, just throw them on Swede's log.. he doesn't mind :D Lots of good folks here and good elk discussion. Glad to have you on board.

Welcome Cha'tima. Isn't that a chat site in Yakima? lol

We have plenty of members from your neck of the woods as well as from all over. There is a lot of info on calling and bowhunting so do some searches or feel free to fire away with any questions. Good to have you on board.

I like this forum. I think I even like RJ. :? Oh excuse me. I forgot my manners just a bit. WELCOME Cha'tima! It is good to have you here. If RJ takes his socks off any where near the campfire, just pitch them in. You won't want to handle them, so use a stick. Anyway there are a lot of Oregon hunters here and I am sure you can get a good start on what you need to know. While RJ is choking on the smoke from his old socks, you might check out the archives. If you can find your way to Warren at the right time, I would be pleased to share some of what I have learned over the years. Don't pay any attention to RJ when he says that should be a very short meeting.

I'd jump on that kind offer if you get the chance Brian. Swede knows a ton about this thing called elk hunting. Oh, and for the record...I think socks are over rated; I don't usually wear any and may even try my hand at hunting Idaho barefoot this fall ;)
