calling practice recorded (calling critcs needed)

Postby JJ Overkill » 03 08, 2014 •  [Post 1]

I got bored cleaning my garage, shooting my bow, driving my wife crazy, so I decided to record some of my calling. its getting harder for me to critique my calls. id like for some of the "seasoned callers" to take a listen and break down where my mistakes are and what to change up. ill admit that the chuckles after my lip bawls sound really funky I added a lot of voice to them. I don't think they are realistic but sound different. and what do you guys mean by advertising bugle? new term to me. :?:

calling sequence,
cows/ calf / estrus buzz
location bugle
my standard bugle with chuckles
scream with grunts
lip bawls with chuckles

I was hoping to hear some feedback from the more experienced guys first but what the heck I'll go first. I'll start off with the cow and calf sounds. I liked them and think they sound good. No expert on the estrus buzz here but I think you can make the sound well enough, now maybe a matter of getting a bit more erratic and speeding the sound up with less hesitation between buzzes? Ie cadence

JJ, I think most of your sounds come from a high pitch.... You need to soften them up and come more from a mid tone. I have some audio clips that might help illustrate what I mean but they were intended more as an advertisement when I made them. I can post them up ,but do not want to hijack your thread. Let me know if you want me to post them? Thanks Troy >> Glacier Country Hunting Calls

Troy shared a few of these with me last year. I'd recommend everyone hear them. Troy is a paid sponsor so I'd recommend he make a thread with as many of these as he wants. It would be easier to find that way down the road.

JJ, I will post some sounds up on this thread. JJ lower your Jaw and soften up the hight pitch. Also check out the Free ELK Calls thread I just put a long winded post up that may help you a lot.
The Sweet Temptation is a single reed call. The Sweet Seduction is a double reed call.I will post up some bull sounds here when I can . Thanks Troy

ctdad, I spend a good portion of today recording some sounds on my iphone and sent them to computer only to find the sound files are too big for this forum> Dang it! So I will either have to trim them or redo the recordings, before I start a new thread.

Here are some audio clips I have of the Secret Weapon, Orange Enrager and the Watermelon. Hear the goose sound I mentioned in post # 79 of the Free Elk calls Thread?
