Please comment on my calling!

Well, I know this might be a bit late in the game but after some months of practicing while commuting to/from work I figured it was time to get some feedback. Tonight was the first time using a bugle tube (hard to do while driving) and it definately changes things up vs just using the reed. I cant really practice at home, with neighbors super close and no basement.. My wife got this text message after the first couple of bugles..

Needless to say, I powered through my recordings pretty quick and here they are.

I know pacing is a bit off but I had to rush it. Some of them I can do better, some are as good as it gets right now. The bugle tube definitely needs to be worked more.. Anyway, hopefully all of you aren't out in the woods so bring on the feedback/tips!

Just kidding! You don't have to be a pro to call elk. Actually, your sounds are plenty good. Maybe work on your chuckles a little bit. They were a little choppy. But over all, what you did will work.

Haha, yeah, was pretty funny. Their dog apparently went nuts. Thanks, I should have recorded myself way earlier, very different to hear yourself on a recording vs "live". Chuckles you are right about, this was one of the things that really changed when I added in the bugle tube. I'll keep on working them, hopefully an elk or two will like what I'm saying next week in Colorado.

Yes, all in all very good! You will get elk to respond to your calling with the use of the right sounds at the right time. When working on your chuckles use some voice inflection with them, do not rely on the mouth reed to do all the work. Practice making some chuckling sounds without the mouth reed or bugle tube, use your throat air & sound to make this in & out sound with just your voice, when you feel you're getting a hand hold on it insert reed & now use both voice from throat as your air passes over the mouth reed with your tongue tension properly placed on it. Put the two together & you will start getting more natural chuckles, practice, practice, practice! (grin) Good job over all bud!
