Face paint/ Camo face net?

On so many of the videos on the sports channels available today, we see it all. A lot of hunters with face paint, another group with camo face nets, and another group with nothing at all covering their face. What do you use and why? Face paint for me, I once had a facenet that had shifted and wasn't lined up around my eyes, that will not happen again. Really curious for those of you who use no covering of the face as to why.

I don't use anything at all but have tried just about everything in my 50+ years of hunting. But I did read a post somewhere about a guy that wore just a ball cap. He wanted to shade his neck and ears from the sun. So he attached a piece of camo netting to the back of his cap for that purpose. Kind of French foreign legion style. He had the bill in front and the netting in back. When he got into an elk or deer encounter, he simply turned his hat around backwards so the netting covered his face.

I use the 3/4 length face mask. I use the netting for hot weather and the jersey cloth for cold weather. I slip it over my head and around my neck until I need to then just pull it up over my nose and ears.

nothing smells as nice as a face mask you've been mouth breathing into for a week. yeesh!

i like the light netting ones just fine. my brother sent me one like his after hearing me moan about my stinking skin tight synthetic one.
face paint? i like it, but i never realized how much i touch my face. i like wiping sweat, tears, etc. and i end up being a mess.

this year, i will try the new mesh one..if i can find it.

in a pinch, i use my first lite neck gaiter. it pulls up high. not super comfy tho for me.

I found this one last year and love it! I wear glasses so finding one that was comfortable and didn't fog them was very difficult. It is open on both ends, so I usually just wear it around my neck and pull it up when I want.

THis is the one I use for warm weather. It doesn't get much condensation from your breath.

Facenet/mask for me. It lives in my cargo pocket in between setups or stalks. Once in the actual hunt, it goes on. I'll pull the front of the mask up and over the top of my head, leaving the elastic straps in place, tucking the front half of the mask under my cap, when I don't feel like taking it completely off; very easy to re-deploy from there. I cannot deal with skeetos and gnats eating my face off, or, having bug parties in my ears, so I much prefer the mask/net method to camo my shiny white face. Caution statement: ensure you practice shooting your bow with your mask on as it's a bit different than shooting without a mask on and may affect your anchor point "feel".

Noy too surprised by this, face paint is becoming less and less used by bowhunters. That is probably why good face paint is so hard to find now.

ive got both. prefer the paint but use the 3/4 mask more simply because of ease of use. I almost always paint my kids cause I enjoy watching them have to clean it off, lol.

Facepaint here. I either smear on some carbomask or rub coal or ashes all over my hands, neck, face, and ears (anything that's not otherwise covered). Then I wear a camo neck gaitor, which I can pull up over my nose and mouth. That seems to be form-fitting enough that it doesn't interfere with my anchor, and leaves my line of sight unobstructed. So far it's fooled a turkey at close range, so I'm hoping it will work with other game.

my brother bought the face paint from those duck dynasty guys. it was way better than my hunter specialty stuff. expecially the black. the black was awesome. very dark, stayed on great.

a diaper wipe took it off easy.

my paint was very thin..looked like i dusted my face.

I use spandoflage and love it. Some don't like the snug fit, but once I got used to it I started feeling naked without it. Plus it fits well under my elk and deer hats.

Facepaint makes my face breakout in a rash, so I prefer a facemask these days. At least until they make a facepaint with lanolin . . . or aloe

I used to wear a balaclava type face mask but use war paint now.

I found some powdered activated charcoal a few years ago, that worked great. I would reckon it help cut the scent down too. I haven't seen it on the market since. I can't keep face paint on, and the charcoal washed off with simple water.

I use a balaclava in cold weather hunting whitetails that I pull up when the time is right. Too much heat during early bow season for it.
