fishing time?

Postby ironhead22 » 02 11, 2013 •  [Post 1]

Might seam like a dumb question but does anyone take time out of there hunt to do any fishing? From what I understand there is some great fishing very close to where we are going to be and was thinking about taking a rod and spending couple hours catching dinner.

My buddy takes a fly rod and if there is water near camp he fishes every day. I can't bring myself to do it. I have 355 other days to fish.

Basecamping? Yes, I'll take some mid day breaks between hunts and catch a few to fry up. Backcountry? No. Don't want to carry in any extra gear, especially not a frying pan :)..

No fishing here. I have other tags in my pocket when I am elk hunting, but often pass on filling them. I am elk hunting and have no time for distractions.

If you have the opportunity to catch some brookies, by ALL MEANS DO SO!

All you need is some small hooks, light tackle, split shot, crawlers to have a grand time and some great eating!

We set aside at least one afternoon to do some 'combat willow brookie fishing!'

I will fish; but only after the tag is punched or the towel is thrown in for tag soup.

My nearest water is an irrigation well about 12 miles away,. so no

I do regret not taking a rod and boots during my daughters rifle moose hunt.
Im out there to enjoy the time,... nothing wrong with a bit of fishing or afternoon nap :P
