My first aid kit

My first aid kit is somewhat limited
Over the past 20 years of my elk hunting, I have used
Benadryl
ibuprofen
aspirin
Band-Aids
sting relief pads
antibiotic wipe pads
I did give away a woman's tampon pad
But more than anything I have used a high dollar small tweezers

The outside of the box is wrapped in a high-tech type duct tape 20 ft of paracord

With that said, I have an elastic tactical belt that I can use for a tourniquet and of course boot laces
I keep a sterile pair of poly gloves that can be used in place of gauze
And starting last year I started carrying a weebee replaceable Vixen knife and a no carry or have in the knife a dozen or so extra scalpel blades

I think your Doc friend may be right. It's a comfort-kit not a first-aid kit. If I need real first-aid I'm heading for the hospital. About all I carry is a couple of band aids and maybe 1 or2 gauze pads. And maybe something for blisters. But in over 40 years of elk hunting, I really can't ever remember opening my first-aid kit even once.
