The Monster.

I had looked on the map and I had found the remotest section on it. I was a lot younger then. I had been playing in a rec league and was fit as a fiddle. Scouting found me bushwacking up a thick 15* slope, the wets heavy with elk salad of all kinds. Up on top I lost my sunglasses. But I found a huge wallow set in the deep cup of the mountain. There were alpine spruce off in the distance about 100yds. Perfect rifle country.
But I was scouting for archery and after spending the day exploring the saddle and its dranages I was suitably psyched. It didn't take much imagination to know this was a perfect place for a bivy elk hunt and by the time the truck seat rested my weary quads I had most of the details straight in my head...

You should have had that photo in last month's photo contest. I love hunting places like that.

If you could add 6 feet of snow it would look like the goves we hunt :lol:
