Wyoming reduced nonresident tags

Postby lilshootergirl » 01 10, 2023 •  [Post 1]

I just saw that it's being voted on reducing the amount of nonresident tags in Wyoming!
So far there's no numbers yet to how much, last time they did this was in 1980s. this will effect 2024.
They will loose a lot of revenue. Hope ill get enough points for a 2024 hunt.

That sounds actually not true. There is a proposal to change the system overall. Instead of a general license there will be regions just like with mule deer. 13 of them. 2 of those regions will have a license reduction while the rest have an increase. That’s based on the number of hunters that have hunted those regions in the past. The region you hunt will actually have an increase of 200 licenses.

Sometimes those proposals are a little hard to understand. Keep in mind that right now these are just proposals.

Joe that link won't open unless you subscribe to Billings Gazette

I had heard it was down to 10%, but don't know if it was only certain units or statewide, only draw units or?.Ditto for Utah
Colorado reduced the units that took more than 6 preference to 20% based on he last three year. I will know more after a meeting tomorrow night (Wednesday.) Other changes might be coming.

From my understanding, it is NOT for elk, deer, and antelope. It is for sheep, goats, moose, grizzly bear and bison.

That’s a whole other subject. This is for elk.

Saddlesore I was able to open it yesterday and so was a friend. But I see now a popup wants me to subscribe. I’m going to try to find it somewhere else.

Yes, it sounds like for areas that need reductions, blacktop damages!
Something to keep a eye on anyway. Glad they have a salvage permit in place, so much meat going to waste

Salvage permit is road kill! It's so the wild game dosn't go completely to waste, but you are required to report it, remove carcass from road to process it, same as Washington & montana.
I read if the tags increase it will be over a $1,000 for nonresident bull elk? Will see, that would be over a $300. Increase. Everything else is going up, why not?

They threw HB60 out to my understanding and brought an HB200 back that may have a little more support behind it?
