Headed out Tuesday.

Ten days starting Tuesday. The gmu we are hunting gets hit hard, but I am keeping a positive perspective. Got a few tricks up the sleeve as to where to be opening morning. My hunch is getting it done will be very dependent on knowing the unit. Early season will be catching elk being pushed up the mountain or, (lady luck) finding an untouched group. Later in season its a matter of those little pockets hiding elk. Know them and careful approach and a nice bull could be snuck out of there on our backs.
I won a HeadsUp decoy. In the past we used the full size Montanna decoy. Heavier to carry in pack and set ups are as you would image. Hoping the HeadsUp will better suit .
Elkmaster is tuned and BH's don't touch them sharp. All we gotta do is pre-make some meals- elk stew, elk jerky, fajitas, baked beans from scratch. Ginger snap cookies.
