What A GoldMine Of A Find!

Postby ElkNut1 » 12 27, 2012 •  [Post 1]

How would you like to be 2-4 miles in where few if any hunters would walk too because of rough/steep terrain conditions & stumble on this spot on top of an awesome bench not far from a bedding area!! Sweeet!! That water there is no doubt an elk magnet, just look at the color of the water!

As a tree stand hunter, I love spots like that. They are exciting. Did you pick a tree to set your stand in? It is good to see a scene like that with no cow manure in it.

LOL! Brad it could be! (grin) I did not take this photo but it was sent to me a while back, I really like it though! (grin) So Swede, no I don't have a stand or blind on it but if in my area I would definitely keep an eye on it!!

Looks like all the grass is nibbled down to nothing. I wonder how many sheep are in the area????????

Hopefully no sheep or cattle? Point is that it would be a great waterhole if found under the area mentioned!

It would have been great if the picture came with GPS coordinates. Of coarse, then every tree around there would have had multiple stands in it. The local land manager would need to put up a traffic light on the road into the area. No one would want my stand at the top, considering my tendency to water the surrounding vegatation from the stand. Come to think about it, it is probably best if the water hole location remains a secret.

Looks like the guy took the picture from his natural ground blind. I shot last seasons bull from a spot very similar. 8 more months, but who's counting :o
